WSS '10 Round 10 | Silverstone, day 1
Saturday July 31, 2010 at 09:58:40 PM by chris |

Silverstone, Triumph's home track, hosted today the first day of practice as the ParkinGO BE1 Racing riders did not go for the speed but focused on setup during both sessions.

First, they had to re-learn the track, which has been partially modified, then worked on base setup. David Salom posted the seventh fastest time of the day, Chaz Davies and Matthieu Lagrive finished eleventh and twelfth respectively, while Iannuzzo was fourteenth. However, all riders are confident they can improve their own provisional starting positions with a better setup tomorrow.

DAVID SALOM | Triumph Daytona 675 | 7th in 2'10.761 : "We did a good job today, we tried all types of tyres and found a good setup. By the end of qualifying session, I had to return to the pit box. I was improving my time with the new tyre on, but couldn't go on because of the smoke that was coming from my teammate's broken engine, who was a couple of hundred metres in front of me. I will try again tomorrow, hopefully will qualify within the first two rows".

CHAZ DAVIES | Triumph Daytona 675 | 11th in 2'11.339 : "I still have a lot of work to do setup wise, especially when entering the corner. However, myself and the team believe we know where we have to change and am confident I can improve myself tomorrow. Unfortunately, by the end of the session, I pushed too hard and the engine broke and wasn't able to complete the lap".

MATTHIEU LAGRIVE | Triumph Daytona 675 | 12th in 2'11.373 : "I got a good feeling with the track and am satisfied with the setup we found on the faster sections of the circuit. I still have to improve in the hairpin corners, where I seem to lose a lot of time, hopefully will do that tomorrow".

VITTORIO IANNUZZO | Triumph Daytona 675 | 14th in 2'11.569 : "I'm on the right path, I tried different cycle part and tyre solutions in these two sessions and was able to get a good feeling with the front end. Unfortunately, by the end of the session, I ran into a small technical issue and had to return to the pit box".
